I want the Bolts players to concern themselves with playing baseball, enjoying the game they love, and maximizing their skill sets. I see my role as facilitating that environment which I believe will lead us to success in the standings. So what can you expect from me in doing just that? Glad you asked:
Clear expectations of you. I’ll provide more details of what I expect from you in another post so we’re all on the same page. If you have any questions about my expectations, please ask.
Structure. You’ll know when the game times are, when the practices are, when any fun activities are planned in advance. I’ll communicate that through multiple methods so you don’t miss any important information. I’ll also try to get the lineups, pitching rotation, and defense out before the game so you know when and where you can expect to play.
Honesty. I’ll be open and straightforward with you. I won’t overpromise. If you are a starter or a role player, you will know. Likewise, if you hit a rough patch and your playing time needs to decrease, I’ll let you know. But I’ll also make sure you get access to the resources you need (coaching, batting cage time, bullpen sessions, etc) to improve and get you back into the lineup.
Positivity. I want to create a positive, supportive vibe in the dugout and that starts with me.
I’ll show up. If for any reason I can’t make an event, I’ll let you know as soon as I know and I’ll always make sure the other coaches will be there in my absence.
Jerseys & Caps. Yep, your first one is on me. I picked the team name, the logo, and the color scheme so it only seems fair that I provide you the jersey & cap for free. I also have a little OCD when it comes to this kind of thing so it’s important that we all wear the same uniform.
**So what's the catch? You have to put a deposit down for the jersey. Once you show up to at least 3/4 of the games and if you have met your other commitments (see post on what I expect from you as a player), I'll hand you your deposit back.
